Low carbon and optionally a small addition of titanium and / or columbium minimize austenite formation at high temperatures, thereby restricting the ability of Stainless Steel 446 Wires to harden. Stainless Steel 446 Wires is often used at cryogenic temperatures, with excellent toughness to -450 Degree F, and low magnetic permeability. Stainless Steel 446 Hollow Bars remains soft and ductile even when the material is rapidly cooled from above the critical temperature. Stainless Steel 446 Wires is low hardening characteristic helps to prevent cracking when the steel is welded or exposed to high temperatures. Stainless Steel 446 Wires is ferromagnetic and also completely ferritic in the annealed condition.
